The only product that interests me is the Carmex lip balm. I've been having extremely chapped lips lately. I was leaving the house when I saw the package and I immediately took the Carmex with me on my way out.
Every day I'm reminded in little ways of my advancing age. I'm actually getting hinty questions about getting married and having kids, que horror! I can understand the questions though because I'm 26, still undergoing training, and will still be training in the next 5 years at least. Eight if I decide to subspecialize. The length of study and instruction of my profession is no secret, but a lot of people don't realize just HOW LONG it takes. And what it means for the family life cycle (i.e., prolonged adolescence, delayed independence).
ANYWAY, if I can't grow up, I'd like to stay looking young! I've looked into various age-appropriate skincare routines, and this is what they all say:
For people like me who are in their twenties, sunblock is THE MOST important anti-aging product out there. It's the first thing we should reach for to delay the appearance of wrinkles and hyperpigmentation (age spots). Not retinoids, not serums -- sunblock. Not just in summer, not just outdoors, but everyday of the year. I've been looking for a good affordable sunscreen with a higher SPF to replace my Khiel's Ultra Facial Moisturizer SPF 15. After reading only good reviews, I decided to try the Belo Essentials SunExpert line. I expect some snickers about this product because it's from the infamous Belo Medical Group but who cares, I like it.

A few weeks ago I was at the 2nd Rubbercut Crafternoon headed by Mansy and Alessa. We were to make rubber stamps for holiday gift wrapping paper, but a lot of us made non-theme stamps as well. As you will see in this post, the crafternoon triggered somewhat of an addiction to rubbercutting.
When I still had the luxury of checking Instagram 8 million times a day, I didn't see the point of having Instagram roundup posts on a blog. Now that I'm following more than a hundred people and can only check about once every other day, I appreciate seeing the photos I missed on the app. What are your thoughts on having Instagram posts on blogs?
Made Oreo truffles ^_^ #dessert #alldayeveryday
For our first sight-seeing day, we ventured out of Bangkok, rented a taxi, and made our way to Pattaya. On the recommendation of the hotel concierge, we went to the Sriracha Tiger Zoo. It boasts a population of more than 400 tigers, along with crocodiles, pigs, and elephants. We were surprised to find that it is more of a circus than a zoo, with several animal shows scheduled daily, and very few informative posters.
The Chatuchak (Jatujak, จตุจักร) Weekend Market is touted as one of the must-see shopping places in Bangkok. Frequently referred to as "JJ," it is reportedly the largest market in Thailand, with over 5,000 stalls in a 0.14 square km area. It offers anything and everything, from household items and clothing to Thai handicrafts, religious artifacts, collectibles, and even live animals. It reminds me of Baguio's Minesview Park. Only waaay hotter.
A break from all the Bangkok reports. :) Gel polish is great for busy individuals. It's truly long-wearing, chip-resistant, and practically scratch-proof. It starts peeling weeks after application. But it is such a bitch to take off. Regular polish remover will NOT cut it. And having it done at a nail salon will cost you as much as a regular mani!
Here's how to remove gel polish at home, for a fraction of the price. This is based on internet research and careful observation and questioning of a nail technician who personally did this on myself.

Another wonderful Bangkok recommendation by my friend Kristine!
Mr. Jones' Orphanage is a "milk bar," otherwise known as a dessert cafe. They serve cakes, pies, brownies, milkshakes, ice cream, blondies, and savory brunch items. Everything is packaged in a whimsical orphanage theme, with low ceilings, scattered toys, and even a library on the second floor.
Bangkok is one of the shopping capitals in Asia, and it's not hard to see why. Malls are situated close to each other and are very accessible by sky train (BTS). They're jam-packed with apparel and accessories being sold at retail and wholesale prices.
At my friend's recommendation, we skipped MBK and headed straight for Platinum Fashion Mall. It specializes in wholesale fashion clothing and accessories, housing three zones in two buildings, with more than a thousand shops. It's the cleaner, cooler (temperature-wise), more organized counterpart of our local 168.
The first of a series of posts on my Bangkok trip. My friend's mother very generously took us to Or Tor Kor (ตลาด อ.ต.ก.), a large fruit and agricultural market. It's a roofed open-air area, but it wasn't at all hot, there were no flies to be seen, and there were no pungent smells! Amazing!!
Butterfly landing on a honey-soaked sponge.
This is looong overdue. I composed a draft weeks ago, then promptly forgot about it. -_-' This is the last from my trip to Cebu.
Today, his children keep their father's tradition alive, maintaining the Sanctuary and Art Gallery through their own means (i.e., no support from government or private institutions).
Many beauty products, while claiming to do good things for our skin, contain ingredients can actually be harmful to susceptible persons. Case in point: parabens.
Parabens are used as preservatives in many food and beauty products such as shampoos, antiperspirant, and cosmetics. While they have NOT been proven to CAUSE cancer, a large amount of parabens was found in a small sample of breast cancer tumors. Parabens can also mimic estrogen, too much of which can lead to breast CA, or fertility problems in men. If you have a family history of cancer like me, it wouldn't hurt to avoid other risk factors such as parabens when possible.
This is difficult because practically all drugstore products contain parabens. (Even those claiming to be "all natural," so read those labels!) Not to mention other potentially harmful substances such as phthalates -- endocrine disruptors that can cause similar problems as parabens; and products high in silicones (dimethicone) and petrolatum (petroleums) -- potentially pore-clogging. (Edit: or maybe not!) What's a girl to do?
I took a video editing class about 6 years ago to learn how to make (tantanaNAAAN) fanvids. Unfortunately, they left out the part about encoding and authoring video discs. So I figured that part out myself, with the helpful Vidding Community at LiveJournal. And while I've never finished a fanvid, I've made a few audio-visual presentations (AVPs) for academic and birthday stuff.
The last AVP I made was two years ago, so I've totally forgotten how to encode and author stuff. It took me three whole days rediscover the process that worked for me (and my OS)! In an effort to avoid this supreme waste of time and disk space (I exported from Adobe Premiere three times, encoded five times, burned thrice, and all in all downloaded MORE THAN TEN new software) for a measly 13-minute birthday video, here are the basic steps that work for me. This post is more of a "for my reference" thing, so I didn't define any terms. Feel free to comment or message me if you're a vidder yourself and have questions!
