Paring It Down: my 2-month travel kit

5:19 AM

When I traveled back to California, I had the chance to send home some of the unnecessary products I'd brought with me. At the same time, I was road-testing most of the new things I'd acquired. Here's my pared-down travel makeup/skincare kit, which I used for 2 months. I'll be covering only the new additions. Do comment if you'd like something reviewed.

Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow liquid foundation in PetalLaura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer in Bisque, Clinique Airbrush Concealer in 04 Neutral Fair, Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Curviest Caramel and Heftiest Hibiscus, Maybelline Baby Lips lip balm, Nyx Stick Blush in Tulip, No7 Marble Blusher in Ballerina, Zero Kuma Concealer in Type 2, Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing sheets.
Benefit Hello Flawless is made for oily skin, and it's great in the warmer areas. Not so much in cold weather, when my skin started flaking. The formula also disintegrates when mixed with sweat, so it's best used in controlled temperatures, such as an airconditioned room.

I've already sung praises about the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer and the Clinique Chubby Sticks. ;) The Clinique Airbrush Concealer was my everyday undereye and blemish concealer.

Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing sheets are a must-have for me. If you're traveling to the US, bring a few packs of these, because they're double the price over there. :o

I love eye shadows, so it comes as no surprise that I accumulated a lot of them over 3 months. These are just the ones left behind with me.

L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows in Iced Latte and Emerald Gold, Maybelline 24h Color Tattoos in Bad to the Bronze and Tough as Taupe, Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes in Ample Amber, Clinique Airbrush Concealer in 04 Neutral Fair, L'Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Waterproof mascara, LORAC Behind the Scenes eye primer.
The L'Oreal Infallibles are quite pretty in a wide range of shades. Some are too frosty for my taste though. The Maybelline Color Tattoos are pretty creamy and quite long-lasting. Watch out for reviews and a giveaway featuring these soon!

I love how portable the Clinique Tints for Eyes are, and they swatched amazingly. On the lids performance was less than expected, but I'm giving them a second chance.

L'Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions is my current favorite mascara. Natural-looking loooong lashes.

LORAC Behind the Scenes is a solid eye primer that keeps shadows on aaall day. It's a little pricey though so if this mini hadn't come with the PRO palette I wouldn't have been able to try it.

I love me my palettes! LORAC PRO Palette, NARS The Happening Eye and Cheek Palette, Sleek i-Divine Oh So Special Palette.

Shu Uemura portable brush set, Japonesque Professional eye shadow crease brush #232, Sonia Kashuk bent eyeliner brush, Tweezerman travel-sized angled tweezer, The Face Shop gold eyelash curler, Sephora daily makeup brush cleaner.
I'm really happy with these new brushes. The Japonesque crease brush is perfect for both lid washes and crease contouring. The Sonia Kashuk liner brush is great for spot-concealing.

The Sephora brush cleaner is your basic spot cleaner. Doesn't take the pigment out too well, but keeps your brushes disinfected and doesn't affect their shape or texture.

No7 Protect & Perfect eye cream, Garnier PureActive Anti-Imperfections Roll-On, No7 Beautiful Skin cream, Eucerin Calming Lotion, VMV Hypoallergenics Armada Face Cover SPF 30, VMV Hypoallergenics Re-everything Face-Hand-Body Lotion, Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, Snoe White Vitamin C-Rich Calamansi Whitening Detox Clay Mask.
Thought the Eucerin Calming Lotion would be a good substitute for the Nivea Baby Smoothy Cream, but no go. It's only good as a body moisturizer. The Mario Badescu Drying Lotion is interesting; still testing it.

As you can see, I managed to trim it down quite a bit. Still wouldn't fit in a quart-sized TSA-compliant carry-on bag though! That kit comes in the next post.
