The overdue mobile travelogues continue... above you can see what I think are either pear trees or crabapple trees. So pretty, all white! But they emit a weird smell, which has earned them the nickname "cum trees" or "jizz trees." HRRRR. The first time I stepped out onto a road lined by these trees I was like, is someone cooking alimasag (crab fat)? Then later, why does it smell like old bleach? HMMMM.
The weather here in the US is really doing a number on my skin. Especially in New York, where it got quite chilly at night, and dry besides. My usual lotion not being moisturizing enough for my hands, I picked up a dedicated hand cream that happened to come with a matching fragrance. L'Occitane's Cherry Blossom line happens to be very timely, cherry blossom season recently peaking in Washington, DC. I believe it's part of their permanent line.
We passed by Rodeo Drive at night, when it was pretty deserted.
This post is about 2 states and 3 cities behind. I'm trying to break up the posts by state so that they don't get tl;dr. Again, everything in this post was done by iPhone/iPad.

Photo: contrary to the post title -- eyeshadow singles I've accumulated thus far
Before leaving, I attempted to make some sort of wishlist of things to purchase. Predictably, this quickly ballooned into an impossibly lengthy (not to mention expensive) catalog of things that will probably not fulfill their purpose while under my possession. So I sat down and decided that there are only two things I feel I must get on this trip. (Aside from craft materials of course.) I'm in an eyeshadow phase right now, and I love palettes because
My posts for the next month or so will be mostly personal. (Sorry for those of you here for the beauty and crafts!) For this trip abroad I'm trying out truly mobile blogging, no laptops involved. Because the last time I tried to post travelogues after the fact, I never finished writing all the posts!
This is the first leg of our trip, when we visited my aunt and her family in Carmel/Monterey. I hadn't seen her since high school! But she's been my adviser on USMLE stuff ever since I decided I would try for residency here. These photos are all taken with either an iPhone or an iPad and edited (or not) on the same, so don't mind the non-uniform dimensions and mid-range resolution.
