Video: Makeup Look: Night Float / Girls with Glasses

8:48 AM

I count it lucky that I have my night float in the summer, otherwise I wouldn't see the sun for a month. Working at night doesn't mean you have to look like a zombie, so here's a fresh-look makeup tutorial for those long hours. I wear my glasses on night float so this look easily translates well into a makeup for girls with glasses theme.

For me at least, on nights I aim for a natural but professional look, nothing overdone, basically a no-makeup look. Some tips:

  • For the base, I like using something with sheer to medium coverage, like a runny liquid foundation, CC cream, or a tinted moisturizer if your skin doesn't oil up quickly.
  • My combination skin gets dry when working long hours so I incorporate a serum into the regimen.
  • Concealing dark circles also does wonders, giving you a young bright-eyed look.
  • I use very little eyeshadow. A smokey eye is not flattering under the harsh fluorescent lighting of the ED.
  • Contrast is key. Subtle contouring of the eyes and brows makes you look put-together without too much effort.
  • A natural lip color is safe. Strong lip colors are great fun but at night, kind of reminds me of streetwalkers. Don't let me stop you from flaunting those candy apple red puckers though!
  • Blush is nice but not necessary.
